I received my law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign-Urbana, IL, after first achieving my Bachelor of Sciences degree in International Business from Illinois State University in Normal-Bloomington, IL. My legal background started with the Illinois States Attorney's office as a Criminal Prosecutor, with various corporate positions following that, until I took a break to raise my family. I actively consult with fellow attorneys and regularly participate in Estate Planning conferences, seminars and courses to remain current and knowledgeable about any changes in the law. Minnesota has been my home since 2005.
Actively licensed to practice law in Minnesota, I established my Solo Law Firm following a personal experience with the stress and heartache caused by a family member's lack of pre-planning before a major health event, despite years of advice otherwise. I paired that with my growing knowledge from current news headlines or from friends and colleagues about their experiences with young families and aging parents, about family rifts, health scares and unexpected tragedies, and about substantial family financial losses. Recognizing a pattern of how these negatives could easily be avoided if the correct documents are in place, I decided I wanted to help prepare families and ease stressful life events.
This calling fulfills my passion for helping my fellow Minnesota families. Estate Planning lends perfectly to my talents for listening, thoroughness, and attention to detail as well. There is an urgent need and importance that families prepare for inevitable transitions by establishing planning documents for both aging relatives as well as for protection of younger generations.
This includes completing such basic items as Healthcare Directives, Power of Attorney, Custody and Guardianship documents for Minor/Special Needs Children, and, of course, family Wills and Trusts.
